In short
- Founder-led means the outreach goes out in your name, from your profile, whether you press send or someone does it for you.
- The first two weeks are positioning, list and messaging. Outreach starts on day 1 of the 90-day clock, not day 1 of the project.
- Expect the first qualified calls in month one, then let the system compound through day 90.
- Report the same five numbers every Monday.
Why founder-led
Decision-makers reply to founders. A message from the person who owns the outcome carries weight that a sales rep's message does not, and it lets you hear the market directly: the objections, the words buyers use, the problems that keep coming up. Founder-led does not mean you must do every task. It means the outreach goes out in your name, from your profile, with your approval.
Before the clock starts: the week of preparation
- Ideal customer profile: industries, company size, geographies, five to ten exact titles that sign.
- Offer and proof: what you sell on retainer, the outcome it produces, two or three client results in one paragraph each.
- Off-limits list: current clients, live deals, competitors, partners.
- Definition of qualified: budget, current problem, authority, timeline. Write it down.
- Booking link with real availability, in your buyer's working hours.
Skip this week and every later week gets slower. This is the same list we ask clients for during onboarding, because we cannot start without it either.
Week 1: positioning and profile
When a buyer gets your message, the first thing they do is open your profile. Fix it before you send anything: a headline that says who you help and what changes for them, an About section that reads like a person, featured proof, a photo that looks like you on a good day. The profile has one job: turn the click into a reply.
Weeks 1 to 2: the list and the messaging
Build the target list by hand from the ideal customer profile: decision-makers only, verified one by one. Add a trigger where you can find one. Then write the messaging: three openers for different triggers, two or three follow-ups, all in your voice, all referencing something real. If someone else is sending for you, approve every line before launch.
Launch day is the day the first approved message goes out. That is day 1.
Days 1 to 30: outreach on the buyer's clock
Send every working day, in your buyer's morning, at a human pace you can hold for three months. Handle replies within hours. Qualify before booking. Book onto the calendar with a confirmation the day before.
Target: three qualified appointments by day 30. That is our first milestone for clients, and it is deliberately modest. The first month proves the list and the message. Volume comes later.
Days 30 to 60: learn and tighten
By now you have data. Which opener gets replies. Which titles answer. Which objection repeats. Cut what does not work, double what does, and add triggers you did not think of. Post content that supports the outreach: a short piece on the problem you keep hearing about gives the next message something to reference.
Days 60 to 90: compound
Threads from month one come back. Calls from month two turn into referrals. The list has been refreshed twice. This is where the run rate peaks, if the first two months were done properly.
What to report every Monday
- Messages sent
- Replies, and positive replies
- Qualified appointments booked
- Calls held
- What we learned and what changes this week
One page, same format, every week. It keeps the founder honest and it makes the system legible to anyone you later hand it to.
Running it yourself or handing it over
You can run this plan yourself. Founders do, and the ones who keep the daily rhythm through the busy weeks get the results. The failure mode is predictable: a big project lands in week five, outreach stops for a month, and the pipeline resets.
LeadFoundry runs the same plan for B2B founders, from your profile, with you approving the messaging: positioning and list in the first two weeks, then launch. On LinkedIn alone, the contract says 20 qualified calls by day 90. Add cold email and paid ads, and it says 30. Miss the number and we keep working free until you get it. See the process, read the guarantee, or book the strategy call.
Want this run for you?
A 30-minute strategy call. We map your ideal customer, model your 90-day pipeline and tell you honestly whether we can hit the number for you.
No pitch. Straight talk.
Questions.
How much time does founder-led outbound take each day?
Run entirely by the founder, one to two hours a day: a morning batch of personalised messages, replies through the day, and booking. Handed over, it is a few minutes a day to approve messaging and read the Monday report.
Should I post content while running outbound?
Yes, lightly. One or two posts a week about the problems you solve give your outreach something to reference and warm up buyers who look at your profile. Content is the support act, not the pipeline.
What if I miss the 30-day milestone?
Diagnose before you change everything. Low replies point at the message or the list. Replies without qualified calls point at the qualification or the booking process. Adjust one thing at a time.
